Global Warming and Building Construction Traditions

Climate of the earth is changing for the last one decade or so, and the situation has reached alarming stage, a lot of anxiety is being shown for a reversal. The problem is being tried to be solved through controlling the effect and not by eliminating the cause. Many factors have caused climate changes but the whole blame is being put on emission of green house gases from industrial processes. But the causes of these are being totally eclipsed from considerations of reversing climatic changes also known as global warming. One of the causes of global warming is the way humanity is constructing buildings for its uses. Various aspects for building constructions adversely affecting climate are as follows -

Vertical to Horizontal Developments
Rapid urbanization of land on earth is being adopted through constructing high-rise buildings, on the plea of reducing requirement of land for constructing buildings for accommodating ever-increasing population and providing work spaces for the population. Why this worry for reducing requirement of land? Just because the land owners in urban areas want more wealth against their land and they are controlling the issue. Otherwise, there is no dearth of land on earth. Merely 3 percent of land is being used for all the rural and urban settlements on the globe. So, enough land is available for single-story building constructions to meet all human needs. Sch horizontal development shall eliminate many problems humanity is facing today. One problem created by vertical developments on earth is that of global warming.
Every high-rise building has to be made of concrete mortar which gets quickly heated and quickly cooled due to heat from the Sun. This requires more of electricity consumption for heating and cooling of buildings for making them comfortable to human-beings apart from that needed for lifts, etc. More of electricity means more burning of fossil fuels for generation. This again warms the climate adding more to the problem.
Solution to the problem, in this respect, lies in constructing single-story buildings on the ground. This will foster a more uniform development and ease crowding problems of urbanization. This will, however, increase travelling distances but this cost increment shall be compensated for by solving many problems of urban lives today.

Underground Constructions

Going for under-ground buildings wherever possible is another solution for problem of rapid heating and cooling of buildings. Such buildings maintain an average temperature over the year and very little electricity shall be needed for living in such buildings. Of course, lighting remains a problem in underground constructions for which buildings need be designed taking this factor into consideration. This shall curtail need of electricity for residential and office buildings.

Concrete Avoidance
Another step needed is to reduce use of concrete in buildings and in-stead going in for hollow bricks and walls for building constructions. On the ground constructions, many people all over the world are constructing their hoses from bamboos and mud and they feel much better health-wise as compared to their urban counterparts. Such traditional constructions are very cost-effective also and may be improved upon to meet the needs of modernity.

Human Beavior under Control, Regulation, Monitor and Freedom

Management is nothing but getting the most out of available manpower. This however depends on knowledge of the manager about human behavior under different circumstances. I have been studying this subject for many years and experimented on it. As a result, I have selected the four most influencing circumstances as far as management of human behavior is concerned. These circumstances are four degrees of freedom given to a person through exercising control, regulation, monitor on the person and providing him/her full freedom.
Control, Regulation, Monitor and Freedom
When the person is given step by step guidelines to be followed, he/she is said to be under control. A person is said to be under regulation when he/she is provided parameters within which he/she is required to conduct himself/herself, while monitoring a person involves just keeping a watch on his/her conduct and guide him/her if found to be going astray. And finally, none of these is exercised, the person is said to be under full freedom.
Under Control
With respect to control, persons may be broadly categorized as of slave and free mentalities and the two behave in two opposing ways under control. Persons with slave mentality badly need control to perform without which they behave in irresponsible ways. Such persons avoid taking responsibilities and don't even exercise their rights. They behave just like cattle tending to stay with crowds since they don;t have their own views and opinions on any matter.
Persons with free mentality feel undue stress if put under control, thereby their performance is adversely affected. For freedom, they want to have, they compensate by taking and owning responsibilities. Such persons are very conscious about their rights being infringed.

These are two extremities but in practice very few persons are of any of these categories and mostly fall in between with varying degrees of the two mentalities. The manager is required to assess individual's mentality degree and put control on him/her accordingly.
Under Regulation
For an average person, the best management practice is to provide regulatory measures in advance and within those parameters, let the subordinates decide and perform freely. This can be done without hurting any individual since te regulatory parameters are uniformly applied on all subordinates. This provision takes care of subordinates' rights and responsibilities within the specified parameters.
Under Monitor
Persons of high intellectual attributes and creativity must be put under monitoring to get the best out of them. Their temperaments often explode on even a smell of control or regulation on themselves. These are the most sensitive and also the most valuable assets of an organization and need be dealt very carefully.
Under Full Freedom
In business organizations, full freedom to anybody proves disastrous and so is strictly prohibited. This is impracticable also. With full freedom, majority of persons tend to behave in irresponsible ways sooner or later.

What Aspirations Ail Humanity

Every one of us feels an urge for gains, may be in personal terms like the wealth, fame, family, etc. or in social terms like working for a better society, ecology, scientific and philosophical research, etc. All these aspirations originate from any or many of four sources  – needs, wants, wishes and desires.

Needs are those which are essential for disease-free survival like bare minimum food, clothing and shelter. No one can live without these so these must be earned by every one of us. These are enough to provide a healthy body to a person. These may be acquired through unfair means if fair means fail because survival is the most important of all things for every one of us.

Once, the survival is secured, we tend to acquire additional things without which we feel a void or a deficiency in life. These are called our wants. Our foremost want is a relationship through which we procreate. This is an instinctive want but not essential for a healthy survival of the self. Through this, we expand our self beyond our individual life spans.

Our second want is to know things outside our person - the nature and the society. For this, education is essential which may be formal and/or informal. We get informal education from our parents and through observing nature and society. Formal education is acquired through established channels of education like schools, colleges and universities. Basic fulfillment of needs through getting food, clothing and shelter ensures our physical survival only at animal level. But a human being is more than just being an animal, he/she needs development of mental faculties which are essential for getting educated. Mental faculties include two distinctive essential components – thinking and memorizing, apart from some peripheral components like healthy sensory organs.

Fulfillment of needs and wants as outlined above makes a person with healthy body and a sound mind, enough for making the person happy.

Once, we have proper mental faculties, we have our wishes – the greatest being for pleasures. For these, the first and foremost requirement is a strong physique. It is particularly noteworthy here that wish for a strong physique comes after our want of development of mental faculties. For this reason, even a disease-free weak body may have healthy mental faculties.

After acquiring a strong physique, desires raise their heads in the individuals – the principal being for having delicious foods, fashionable clothing and jewelleries, palatial houses and more and more of sexual relationships. Apart from such sexual relationships, other assets are called wealth of the person. Each of these desires may go on increasing endlessly and become reasons of crimes in human societies through which basic rights of other human-being are invaded and endangered by the mighty and powerful curtailing the latter’s happiness. These desires are infectious in the sense that by seeing the strong gaining more of their desires fulfilled, even others also start having such desires leading to more of crimes and chaos in the society.

Even a possibility of such crimes and chaos generates feeling of insecurity in individuals in the society curtailing their happiness. This curtailment of happiness produces another want of feeling safe. For this feeling of safety, almost all human societies have developed their own individual law and justice machineries.

This treatise clarifies one point that acquisition of physical strength beyond a healthy body and mind even in some individuals in a society is counter-productive for humanity or is anti-human and incurs wastage of wealth on keeping law and justice machinery by the society. This also points out that even games and sports in civilized societies are counter-productive wasting a lot of wealth and its concentration.

Managing a Free-lancing Business

Free-lancing is a recent term although the practice is very ancient. Anybody having an expertise in any field and bubbling with self-confidence can go for a free-lancing business. It provides full freedom to the person and the person gains directly proportional to his/her efforts multiplied by his/her success-rate. These things are not available in an employment. The business needs the least of investment and hence risk, while any other business needs considerable investment and risk. But it needs much more hard-working than an employment.

Here are some essential attributes, a free-lancer must have -

Updated Professional Knowledge
A free-lancer is first needed to have some professional knowledge in the field of his/her working and he/she is required to build his/her reputation in the field as a specialist. For this reputation, the person can't afford to be irrelevant or outdated at any time for which he/she is required to update himself/herself regularly through memberships of professional organizations and readings of relevant journals and periodicals.

Practical Expertize
A free-lancer is often required to work with his/her own hands, may be even for demonstration and guidance purposes. So, knowledge of the field must be accompanied by practical skills of the field without which no free-lancing business activity is feasible. It is noteworthy here that an expertize is different from specialization in the sense that a specialization is knowledge-based while the expertize is skill-based. For developing an expertize, the person has to be a habitual parametric which means that person already knows, for example, how many times a spoon has to be rotated in a cup of tea for dissolving sugar in it. Like this, whatever actions are performed by the practitioner, their measures are noted down for future applications of similar type.

Constraint less
A free-lancer is required to be on his/her toes probably for 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, ever-ready to provide the desired service or to perform the desired job. The best free-lancers are those who complete a task from beginning to finish in one go provided there are no other constraints. For this capability, a free-lancer must be in perfect health having no physical constraints. For example, even a free-lance author has to make notes whenever a new idea comes to his/her mind while sleeping or waking.

Socialite
Essentially, a free-lancing business is promoted through friendly relationships with persons of all ages and of all shades. So, a free-lancer has to be witty and having no laziness or shyness in making new friends. He/she must know how clients are transformed to friends and friends to clients.

Smartness
Smartness is another name for alertness and speed. Momentary understanding of intents of the opposite person is basic attribute of a free-lancer. I know a Consultant whenever he was required to visit an officer with his client, the client would talk to the officer and in the mean time, the consultant would probe contents of all papers lying on the table of the officer without touching any.

This smartness comes handy in making good use of every opportunity coming his/her way through instant decision and action.

Time-effective
For a free-lancer, time is the commodity to be invested most wisely as the only investment of his/her. His/her measure of time runs in seconds rather than in hours or days. For this, essentially the free-lancer lives in his/her present moment, neither thinking of the past and nor worrying about the future.

Needless to say, success of a free-lancer depend on his/her reputation of reliability so he/she speaks what he/she thinks and acts accordingly. Any falsehood is paralyzing to a free-lancing business.
